About UsThe Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA, pronounced Pay-Sa) has been in existence for one full year at this point in time (June, 2011) .
An advocacy group for independent school sports throughout the state, PAISAA's initial purpose is to offer professional development opportunities for membership, to preserve and enhance existing state tournaments, and to create additional tournaments through the development of coaches' associations for each sport. Currently, PAISAA supports tournaments in cross country, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball and track and field. Efforts are moving towards events in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, golf, and wrestling.
The new organization, under the leadership of founding President Jeannette Cooper, Athletic Director at Westtown School in West Chester, is committed to providing a forum for the interchange of ideas, as well as direction and guidance for its member schools (PAISAA is open to all schools that are members of Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools(PAIS).
The board of directors is pleased to announce that PAISAA has been approved to as an Affiliate member of the National Federation of State High School Association (NFHS).
PAISAA efforts are to function as the body responsible for the support of interscholastic athletics programs for independent schools. There is a commitment to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas, and to provide leadership to insure enjoyable and healthy interscholastic opportunities for students in our schools.
